Kim

I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist and in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I have over 5 years of experience working in a variety of clinical settings including non-profit organizations, different school settings, family and community clinics, and private practice. As a therapist, it is my honour to be able to support my clients on their journey of self- exploration and healing while providing a respectful, safe, and caring environment through individual and canine assisted therapy sessions.

I take an integrative approach to therapy and draw on a variety of therapeutic approaches to meet the needs and goals of each client. These modalities include animal assisted therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, mindfulness, attachment theory, some play and sand tray therapy. In addition, I use a client-centred approach to therapy and have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. Areas of experience include anxiety, depression, ADHD, attachment issues, emotional regulation, grief and loss, bereavement, issues surrounding separation/divorce, self-esteem, self-harm, stress management, and trauma.

At this time, my primary focus is currently working with teens and adults.

Kona

My name is “Kona” and I love being a co-therapist with Kim at Tansem Psychology. I often wait patiently in Kim’s office for clients to arrive and enjoy meeting and greeting clients at the front entrance.

I am a three-year-old golden doodle and a trained therapy dog. Although I am large in size, I am a calm and friendly dog who loves to curl up on my clients’ laps and give them hugs and kisses. I’m still a puppy at heart who loves lots of attention and retrieving my toys and tennis balls.

I like helping my partner Kim by participating in fun activities with kids, teens, and adults. I really like helping to facilitate a warm and caring environment so that clients feel safe and comfortable. I also love learning new tricks and getting treats!
