Breanna Alton
Registered Provisional Psychologist
I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist who works predominantly with children and youth (ages 3.5 to 17 years old) with emotional, academic, and behavioural difficulties. I have been working in private practice for the past 10 years and am in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I have extensive experience working with a wide variety of childhood disorders and presenting issues both in the school system as well as in private practice. These disorders and presenting issues include emotion and behavioural regulation, anxiety, depression, ADHD, oppositional defiance, autism, self-harm, suicidal ideations, anger management, divorce and separation, grief and loss, parenting support, peer relationships, self-esteem, stress, relationship issues, and trauma.
I know reaching out and coming to counselling can be challenging which is why I always ensure my clients feel safe, comfortable, and relaxed with me. I work from a client-centred approach where I work collaboratively with my clients to help them gain a better understanding and awareness in their lives. I also believe that for change to occur there must be a genuine, non-judgmental relationship between the client and the therapist. I tailor therapy to each individual client where I draw upon several different therapy modalities including attachment-based therapy, play therapy, art therapy, sand-play, mindfulness (MBCT), family systems, CBT, solution focused therapy, and narrative therapy. I look forward to walking this journey with you.
