Rachel Chapman
Registered Provisional Psychologist
My name is Rachel Chapman, and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. My personal journey of healing and recovery, professional background, and education have provided the foundation of the therapeutic approaches I deliver. I work from a person-centred and strength-based approach where I walk alongside the client to establish a relationship of nonjudgement, safety, and trust. Additional approaches may include emotion-focused therapy, mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, dialectical-behavioural therapy, and attachment theory. My belief is that every individual journey is unique. Together we draw from personal strengths, and away from life’s challenges and hardship.
I obtained my Bachelor of Child and Youth Care degree in 2010 from Grant MacEwan University, followed by my Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2021. I have worked closely with high-risk populations and adverse issues such as addictions, mental health disorders, attachment issues, teen pregnancy, trauma, homelessness, abuse, grief and loss, and domestic violence.
I have 15+ years of mental health experience and training. I have worked for Black Gold School Division for the last 13 years, supporting numerous students individually, facilitating group sessions, providing universal supports within the classroom, supporting Violent Threat Risk Assessment, and supporting staff and families within the school setting. Additionally, I have worked in private practice since 2020, supporting clients and families with a variety of presenting issues and disorders.
My belief is that connection and healthy relationships are the key to wellness and prevention. I always consider it such an honour to walk with others on their journey, as it takes courage to initiate change and overcome adversity. It is my hope that every client feels seen, heard, empowered, and validated within our time spent together. I look forward to meeting you.
